A job has become available within a GESI research group, as part of a project funded by the DAAD in accordance with sponsorship from the BMBF. The post is within the study project “Global Repositioning – The Importance to Greece of the Transatlantic Relations of Africa, Middle East, Russia and Asia” (“Globale Neupositionierung - Die Bedeutung der transatlantischen Beziehungen, Afrikas, des Mittleren Ostens, Russlands und Asiens für Griechenland”). Beginning 1 April 2014, the Phd position will be in the Department of Global Studies in the GESI.

Candidates should send a proposal on the questions of geopolitical development with approximately 2000 words, plus their CV and a motivation letter. Due to the project’s interdisciplinary nature, those coming from historical studies, human geography, the history of science, political science (international studies), cultural studies or sociology are most welcomed. The application deadline is 15 March 2014.

This position will involve administrative tasks within the project group, with German and Greek scientists from Leipzig and Athens collaborating (including organisation of visiting scientists, workshops, communications with sponsors).
